♦ The Beaver Call
“The Beaver Call” also called “The Beaver Song” is a fingerplay for young children with many versions. It was published on Dr. Jean Sings Silly Songs by Jean Rosenberg Feldman (better known as Dr. Jean) in 2007. The song can be used to teach little kids to count to ten in English. The beaver call, indicated by the word “fuh,” is made by positioning the upper front teeth on the lower lip and then opening the mouth as you suck in. Perform the motions as you sound the beaver call. Get your beaver hands out, get your beaver teeth out, and get ready to be a beaver with these silly moves!
English Lyrics:
The Beaver Call
Beaver one, beaver all,
Let’s all do the Beaver Call!
(Make beaver teeth with your hands in front of your mouth)
Fuh, fuh, fuh… Fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh
Beaver two, beaver three,
Let’s all climb the Beaver Tree!
(Imitate climbing a tree)
Fuh, fuh, fuh… Fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh
Beaver four, beaver five,
Let’s all do the Beaver Jive!
(Do a hand jive)
Fuh, fuh, fuh… Fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh
Beaver six, beaver seven,
Let’s all go to Beaver Heaven!
(Flap your arms like little Beaver angel wings and float around)
Fuh, fuh, fuh… Fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh
Beaver eight, beaver nine,
Stop! It’s Beaver Time!
(Do your favourite dance move)
Fuh, fuh, fuh… Fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh, fuh
